We should be pushing individuals to take responsibility for their own health and preventing chronic disease through better life style choices – fewer calories, more exercise, less drinking etc etc – rather than begging the government to fork out even more money for expensive drugs which don’t actually cure anything after the damage has been done.

There’s an epidemic of chronic disease – at a time when we should be healthier than ever – because we don’t look after ourselves and drugs aren’t going to change that. Telling people that chronic disease is normal and that the government will give you the drugs you need to manage it is entirely the wrong message to send. Put down the burger, put on your walking shoes and stop thinking there’s a pill to cure all ills because there just isn’t.
