Rewards and rewarding experiences of using PCs in schools.

I think there is a trend to 'reward' children when they perform well. Some are not in favor of it. But I think for small children this is good. Usually stickers, candy, fancy stationery items, little story books and so on are given to the good performer.

For the older child a good reward for doing well in a computer assisted lesson, would be to let him play a computer game. The better the doing of lessons the more the number of games, or more the playing time.

It cannot be more emphasised, to teach the children computer basics. Without which the children just use the computer mainly for chatting with their friends-important things like doing a back-up of important material, saving files, deleting not needed stuff is a well cultivated habit that stands in good stead where a child using his computer well, is concerned.

For those children who are not tech savvy for their age, having computers at school makes them succumb to peer pressure and learn something useful about computers. At home the children who get stuck to computers, make their other siblings who may not be so interested in the computers any way;get an excuse to stay away further.

Computers are good for developing social skills, coping mechanisms and time management too, if supervised properly by parents and teachers. Homework, and home to school online maybe encouraged. Computer can be used to acquire knowledge, and skills like typing. But most important, it can be used to teach the child how to communicate. Teachers, lawyers, doctors, instructors, managers all need to communicate their thoughts and ideas. Children need to communicate what difficulties they are experiencing. The PCs used for this purport will certainly prepare the school child, to be a sensible adult in control of his life and career.

For the older children it is understood that for their lessons; geographical, historical or plain old science, they are not going to be satisfied with just the 45 minutes of each lesson. For geography they might like to browse for the natural landscape, and would want to know how the inhabitants are, what do they look like, what do they wear and do. Do they like their songs and dance? Do they like their watersport or any other sports they may be getting gold in the olympics for!If its history, they might be wanting to know, if there are some relics, costume, jewelry, crafted weapons, and more belonging to peoples they are interested in, and in which museum are they kept. For this they might need the internet and good browsing to read the facts they want to know and the pictures or video clips they would like to see.
