How to do more of what we love.

| March 11, 2014

No matter what you do in life, it’s always a good idea to talk to people who have already done it or at least are willing to listen to your experience. Michal Bodi has started Sydney Artist Collective to unite creative souls online and form a community of like-minded people to share and connect.

What does being creative mean?

Being creative means many things…an alternative way of thinking, a different point of view.

Being creative means challenging yourself every day and feeling that you’re not done yet.

Being creative means not willing to be invisible and to be surrounded by templates.

Being creative means going new places that have never been explored before.

Being creative means constantly being inspired and to never stop thinking.

Being creative means seeing, hearing and feeling things others don’t.

Being creative means being in peace with who you are inside.

Being creative means different things to different people.

Being creative means courage to show your inner you.

Being creative means dreaming while you’re awake.

Being creative does sometime mean no sleep.

Being creative means looking crazy to others.

Being creative means having a purpose.

Being creative means going for impact.

Being creative never feels like work.

Being creative is seeking change.

Being creative means joy.

Being creative means.

Being creative.

Being creative means many things. It also means that we stand for something. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from creative people it’s the importance of understanding how a creative mind works. The very process of creating something, whether it’s dancing, designing, painting or writing is all about making yourself vulnerable, ‘revealing’ yourself.

This makes things fairly complicated because in business, it’s quite the opposite. It’s often about holding the cards close to your chest. So it can be very challenging for creative individuals to ‘make it’ commercially.

Being creative doesn’t automatically mean being successful. Most creative people don’t often even think about it at all. Is it because we don’t care? Is it just not a priority? Success has a different meaning to each person. Some people may have a vision of being a creative success but have no idea how to get there. Do I walk alone, do I partner with someone, do I ask around?

My view is that if you’re going somewhere, it’s good to talk to people who have already been there, or at least, go with someone who you can share your experiences with.

For that very reason I have set up the LinkedIn group – Sydney Artist Collective. I wanted to unite the creative souls online and form a community of people willing to share and make a difference. I believe once you connect to your purpose you increase your horizons.

Together we can grow and help out one another. I mean, something you already know and take for granted can mean a lot to somebody else and it can potentially send them in the right direction. Communication is the key. Once you allow yourself to ask questions or share your story you can become a part of something meaningful.

The group has only been live for a couple of weeks but has been growing steadily. If you are creative in any way or know someone who is or would like to awaken their creative side, please join us and say hello. Maybe we have something in common, maybe we can help and maybe you can help.

I believe that being creative also means being selfless. And Sydney Artist Collective gives you an opportunity to be that person and belong to a community of people who give selflessly.

Creative mind. Speak it out, go out and share it with everyone

"No matter what you do in life, it’s always a good idea to talk to people who have already done it or at least are willing to listen to your experience." It feels good to be creative. It is the ability to express one self. May it be personal like expressing your feelings or sharing your thoughts. And meeting someone who is having the same interest or at least having the same experience with you is the best person you can share or express what you really want to express. You have a creative mind, you know that you have a talent. You go out, speak it out, show it out and share it with everyone. Because having a creative mind means that you are peculiar.
