It’s thinking season
The Sydney Writers’ Festival 2014 takes places from 19 to 25 May. It is an annual literary festival that includes author talks, conversations, film screenings, panels, readings, workshops and various events for children. This year more than 400 authors are participating.
Highlights include Alice Walker, David Malouf, Malcom Fraser, Andrew Solomon, Irvine Welsh, Sarah Blasko and Brendan Cowell, to name but a few. The organisers have put together a program with the aim to challenge, provoke and question our concepts of culture, history and identity.
The Sydney Writers’ Festival began in January 1997, with most events initially held at the State Library of New South Wales. Today the festival mainly takes place in Walsh Bay, but there are also events all across the city, suburban Sydney and regional NSW.
