Celebrating NAIDOC week

It’s NAIDOC week from 5 to 12 July 2015. NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. It is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to recognise the contributions of Indigenous Australians in various fields.

The theme for NAIDOC Week 2015 is We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect and Celebrate. It highlights Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ strong spiritual and cultural connection to land and sea. Host city this year is Adelaide.

Activities take place across the nation during NAIDOC Week. All Australians are encouraged to participate.
