Introduction – letter from the editor

| June 9, 2017

Welcome!

To the Open Forum Community,

After four outstanding years Svetlana Stankovic has moved on from Open Forum, to a new opportunity at The Guardian. We wish her a smooth transition and thank her for her fine work and deep commitment over these past years.

I would like to introduce myself as the new editor, a significant responsibility that I am delighted to undertake. I am excited about the future of our community and am committed to building upon the substantial traction we have.

In terms of my background, I have an ongoing interest in government and public policy and have been working for institute for active policy, Global Access Partners, for over 12 months. I am a qualified lawyer and prior to this I was a long-term employee of Bazmark Inq. the production company of Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin.

I would like to thank those of you that have contributed pieces in the past. I invite you to continue to do so and welcome you to contact me directly on ejohnson@openforum.com.au with your latest observations.

If you are a ‘New Voice’, I would be delighted to draw you into the conversation and I am committed to nurturing you through the process. We welcome your opinion and we would like to share your thoughts with the wider community.

Engaging people in public policy discussions is not always easy, but encouraging an open dialogue is one way that we can do so. As a not-for-profit, bipartisan organisation, we are able to offer a platform for a broad range of views, one that we hope generates a true reflection of our diverse society.

Looking forward to the ongoing discussion.

With warm regards,

Emma Johnson
