There needs to be more choices for those who do not fall into the majorities. e.g. <18, other marital status, not intending to have kids, and so forth.
Why have a survey if you limit the input like that?
Thank you for your comment, yes we are facing a greater number of "categories" into which a person can fall in Australian society.
It wasn't our intention to limit input or be narrow in our focus. We felt that the only people who could offer real, tangible insight into motherhood would be those who have experienced it.
There are lots of people who don't fall into the available categories, but we felt that in this case, given the purpose and content of the survey, they didn't have as much relevance. If our survey was to focus on the thoughts of mothers-to-be, or not-to-be, as well as mothers, we certainly would offer several more categories to choose from.
