Social Media and You
Ever notice how when your friends go on holiday to “get away from it all”, they still find time to post photos of themselves on Facebook, lying on a beach or drinking a cocktail, just to show you they are having a good time? Perhaps it’s no surprise that social media has become an integral part of the holiday season, as it has so many other facets of our lives, as both holidays and social media are all about sharing experiences, building memories and making friends.
Social websites are also a great way to research your next holiday, find a bargain flight ticket or deliver a perfect present to a far-away relation – and so offer innovative businesses exciting opportunities to promote their brand. A recent report from the UK’s “World Travel Market” found that one in three holiday makers change their hotel choice after consulting social sites, while nearly half of the travel and tourism industry use social media as a revenue stream.
