Mental Health Week
National Mental Health Week from 9 to 15 October 2016 promotes the social and emotional wellbeing of the community and an increased understanding of the issue. Individuals and families are encouraged to boost their health potential and seek help in coping with mental health concerns.
The World Health Organization reports that mental health disorders affect one in four people, making the total number of people affected around 450 million. More locally, four million Australians are affected by mental health disorders. This places mental health disorders among the leading causes of ill health and disability worldwide.
Mental Health Week is a national event, held every October to coincide with World Mental Health Day on 10 October. To find an event near you, please follow this link.
