Our voice. Our impact.
It’s National Youth Week (NYW) from 4 to 13 April 2014, the largest celebration of young people in Australia. Thousands of young people aged 12-25 from across Australia get involved in NYW each year.
NYW began 14 years ago with the theme of ‘Count Me In’, when young people took part in over 1,000 events nationwide. Today, NYW is enlisting the help of people from all around the country — from Young Members to state and territory governments.
This year’s theme is ‘Our Voice. Our Impact.’ A group of Young Members, comprising of representatives from every state and territory, as well as Indigenous and Australian Government representatives, want to tackle some of the most important issues facing young people today: mental health, marriage equality, the environment and health and wellbeing. The Young Members strongly believe in the importance of young people using their voices and taking action.
The National Youth Awards acknowledge the outstanding achievements by young people on behalf of young people. The winners will be announced on Friday, 11 April 2014.
Events for National Youth Week are happening all around the country.
