    Conroy announces National Telework Week

    telehealth thumbThe Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, has announced the creation of an Australian Telework week, following on from a unanimous vote by delegates at Global Access Partners’ (GAP) 2011 National Economic Review.

    At the summit, held in September, Tim Fawcett, CISCO General Manager Government Affairs & Policy, made a case for Australia to follow the United States’ lead and create a National Telework Week. In the US more than 35,000 businesses and organisations pledge to allow employees to work from home for a week.

    Health Care in Australia: Prescriptions for Improvement

    The Australian Centre for Health Research (ACHR) celebrates six years of contributing to health dialogue in Australia with the launch of its book of essays, "Health Care in Australia: Prescriptions for Improvement".

    The ACHR was formed in 2005 with contributions from a variety of health participants including health insurers, private hospitals, industry associations and professional associations.  The intention of the Centre was to lift the level of informed public discussion in the area of health to bring about improvement in the health system.

    2011 marks the 50th anniversary of strata legislation in NSW. That makes it a good time to think about what might happen in the next 50 years and whether our current strata and community scheme laws will remain relevant.

    Strata Plan No 3 at HurstvilleLPI administers the state’s land title system and registers strata and community plans. When the first strata Act was introduced it gave unit owners a secure form of ownership for their asset. The original strata subdivisions were relatively simple, involving the division of a vertical apartment block into lots, with the rest of the building being common property.
