Diabetes is Australia’s fastest growing chronic disease with 280 new cases every day. 12 to 18 July 2015 is National Diabetes Week. Its aim is to raise awareness of the seriousness of diabetes and the growing number of people who have it.

Two million Australians have pre-diabetes and are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Almost 60 per cent of type 2 diabetes cases are preventable through sustained lifestyle change, healthy eating and maintaining a healthy weight.

The aim of the campaign is to increase knowledge and understanding in the general population about diabetes so that those who don’t have diabetes better understand the condition and can support those who do.

You can support the campaign by

  • raising awareness using the #280aday hashtag
