• Refocusing on Fusion

    quagga     |      January 10, 2011

A year on are the folks at Lawrencevile Plasma Physics any closer to positive fusion? They’re getting warmer.

This article is a follow-up on a previous one that I wrote over a year ago, The Experiment that May Change the World, regarding the Lawrenceville Plasma Physics (LPP) company’s effort to achieve net positive energy from a Dense Plamsa Focus Fusion device using the Boron to Helium nuclear reaction.

Earlier this week the scientists at LPP realeased a progress report announcing that they have achieved a very significant milestone. They have repeatedly achieved to rigorous scientific standards the billon degrees + temperature required for Boronic fusion in their device.

  • Should computers have rights?

    quagga     |      May 11, 2010

    Here's a question for you: Where does a human's human-rights lie?

I personally answer this question by the following reasoning. When somebody's leg is amputated it is the rest of the body retains the rights of the person, not the discarded leg. Likewise when you preform heart transplants, the rights of the person remain with the person and not with the old heart nor the new heart.  The extreme logical conclusion of this is that if we progressively replace or destroy each part of the body…starting at the feet working our way up to the eyes then it is the remaining part of the original body that retains the person's rights.

In otherwords, the rights belong to a person's brain/mind: ie, when we say that a person has rights, what we're really saying is that a brain/mind has rights.  The human rights, such as the right to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom to trade, etc.., lie with the brain.

  • The Experiment that May Change the World

    quagga     |      September 24, 2009

Today a small group of scientists and a technician at Lawrenceville Plasma Physics plan to do a test run of a nuclear fusion device that *may* one day forever change the way we produce electrical power!

Over the next few years they will experiment with this device to test their theories that they can produce positive net power from the fusion reaction of Boron and Hydrogen. Successfully harnessing the energy of this particular fusion reaction is revolutionary because its reactants and products are common non-radioactive elements.

If this machine works as planned it has the potential to revolutionise the power industry because it will produce power at a fraction of the cost of all known current methods in a safe way.

  • Cash has done its dash

    quagga     |      June 30, 2009

When you consider all these benefits of a cashless society it is obvious that very soon cash will be a thing of the past.

Recently a significant milestone was achieved in the field of computer operating systems: the OKL4 operating system kernel. The most significant point to understand about the OKL4 kernel for this article is that it guarantees by way of solid mathematical proofs that programs can run on it in isolation and safe from interference from any other programs including viruses – this is something that no other publicly available operating system provably guarantees!

So what has this talk about operating systems got to do with CASH – the subject of the title of the article?

Well this technology in combination with the following facts leads to some very exciting possibilities:

  • People of the environment

    quagga     |      June 17, 2009

Just because something is man-made doesn’t mean that it is not natural.

This is a rebuttal of certain popular misconceptions which featured in the blog "People VS the Environment" by Hani Montan which appeared  here on Open Forum recently.

That piece states a common misconception, specifically the "Maintenance of the balance in nature". The environment has no such a thing. There is NO balance of nature. If there was a balance of nature then things would never change, but unbalanced change is precisely what nature does. Infact we have even named this concept- it’s called…."EVOLUTION".

  • Politicians Pay: A fair salary determining mechanism

    quagga     |      June 15, 2009

Politicians are some of the only employees who can set their own terms and conditions of employment at will without having to bargain with their employers.

Recently, due to the recent federal politician pay-freeze ruling last month, the issue of politicians pay has arisen once again. This has lead to various internet comments and proposals on the subject. What I outline in this article is an alternative mechanism for fairly determining the salary of a politician. This simple mechanism is based on the price determining principles found throughout society. This idea it is not new…I first heard from a work colleague over ten years ago and I guess it has been proposed elsewhere before then as well.

Innate virus protection by applying POLA and Object Capabilities

    quagga     |      June 11, 2008

Contrary to the assumptions of most people- it is possible to create computer operating systems and programs that are immune to arbitrary attack by viruses and unauthorised access. In fact the foundational knowledge of how to build such a system has been known and applied for over thirty years. Unfortunately this knowledge has never been […]

The true nature of the Environment

How can I be as one with nature?  This blog’s questions/answers will reveal.

How can I be as one with nature?  This blog’s questions/answers will reveal.

    Q: What is the environment?

A: The environment is everything (absolutely everything) that exists! ie: The Universe.
