Celebrations for NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week celebrations will be held across Australia this week to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme is Spirit of the Tent Embassy: 40 years on and was selected by the National NAIDOC Committee to acknowledge the key contributors to its long history. It celebrates those who renew the spirit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through the establishment of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in 1972. Forty years ago, the embassy became a powerful symbol of unity.
NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is an opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Find events in your State.
Open Forum is an interactive policy discussion website hosted and moderated by Global Access Partners (GAP).
