Drink coffee and do good
CafeSmart Day brings together coffee roasters, cafés and coffee drinkers around the country to help people who are homeless. On Friday 7 June participating cafés donate $1 for every coffee they sell. They also encourage patrons to match this donation with their own $1. All of the money raised will go to fund local projects. This is the third annual CafeSmart Event.
CafeSmart is an initiative by StreetSmart, an organisation taking action against homelessness. StreetSmart raises funds and awareness for small grassroots services and projects. These projects provide services and emergency aid as well as promoting social inclusion, empowerment and sustainable change for people who are homeless or at risk. All donations from the public are distributed in the form of grants.
There is a photo competition with the chance to win an Espresso Maker by photographing your favourite café and posting on social media. If you are not close to a participating café but would like to help out you can organise a coffee break and raise funds.
