It is National Science Week from 16 to 24 August, an annual celebration of science and technology in Australia. School children, university students and science enthusiasts of all ages are invited to take part in more than 1,000 events happening around the country.
Every year in August schools, universities, science centres and museums are organising events attracting over a million visitors and participants – from science amateurs to professionals.
This is an occasion to recognise the great work Australian scientists are doing. Younger people are encouraged to get involved and become fascinated by the world we live in.
National Science Week is supported by the Australian Government in a variety of ways, including the provision of up to $500 000 for the National Science Week Grants Program.
There are a lot of ways to get involved: Go to an event, take part in the online citizen science project, visit a local festival or even run your own National Science Week event.
