Happy Australia Day
Open Forum | January 26, 2023
The official national day of Australia is observed every year on 26 January to mark the landing of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the raising of the Union Flag by Arthur Phillip following days of exploration of Port Jackson in New South Wales.
Today’s celebrations reflect Australia’s increasingly diverse society through family and community events, reflections on Australian history, official community awards and citizenship ceremonies welcoming new members of the Australian community.
