Random acts of kindness
Many companies and individuals would like to help their community, but don’t know how to go about it. Fi Bendall has set up Genrossity as a marketplace for peer to peer giving and receiving random acts of kindness.
Have you ever been touched by the kindness of a stranger? Do you feel like you want to give or volunteer but are met with walls of resistance when you reach out to try? Do you just sometimes want to do something that makes a difference?
I do and I am doing just that as founder of Genrossity.com, a new site that matches random acts of kindness with people who need help.
You can shout out what you need help with and you can offer your kindness easily in a fun way that really makes a difference.
Genrossity is the first of its kind in Australia, offering an innovative web-based and mobile-optimised location-based marketplace for peer to peer giving and receiving and is already planning to expand internationally.
Genrossity is my passion project. It is amazing to be able to do what I am good at – building digital businesses – and use it to change the world. For many years corporates and not for profit organisations have struggled to communicate. We all want to help our communities, but it is so hard to find ways to do that and really make a tangible difference to your neighbour’s life.
Genrossity has a Giving Auction. This program is designed to remove the stress and costliness for corporations and businesses wanting ‘to do the right thing’ and contribute to the community, by acting as the go-between in a trusted and secure auction style environment. It is also just as beneficial for the charities and individuals in need, as many of them don’t have a common platform to communicate with organisations and businesses on how they can assist them with their cause or get much needed resources from business into the community.
Genrossity enables business and not for profits to communicate in a simple and effective way.
We are already making a huge difference to a number of not for profits we have teamed up – from providing critical digital literacy programs from Intel to get people back to work, to furnishing housing projects. We have already a number of live projects, and this is just the beginning. It is working and activating our communities in a real and meaningful way.
The process to join Genrossity is simple. Go to the website and register and submit, connect to other people and help your community. To become a Genrossity affiliated business is as simple as going to the website (genrossity.com) and registering. From there you can ‘post your give’ and charities can ‘submit a pitch’ for your donation. Genrossity then sorts through all the pitches and narrows it down to a select few for your business to then choose who most fits your criteria. Genrossity has already signed up Microsoft, Intel, Fantastic Furniture and Reges to name a few.
Genrossity is now open for registrations and will be officially launching in March 2015.
