Your chance to comment on NSW strata law reform

| May 11, 2016

You’ve got until 27 May 2016 to have your say on NSW’s proposed strata regulations. Current government reforms in strata laws were informed by a highly successful community consultation facilitated by GAP and hosted on Open Forum in 2012.

NSW has more than 75,000 strata schemes worth $350 billion in assets. The reforms will affect some 2 million industry professionals, strata owners, and residents in strata-titled townhouses and units.

To modernise strata laws, more than 90 law changes were passed by the NSW Parliament in 2015, but have not yet commenced. They are due to come into effect later this year. The laws will be administered by NSW Fair Trading.

Members of the public and stakeholders are now encouraged to suggest any improvements needed to the draft regulations to ensure they work as effectively as possible. Written submissions on the regulations can be made until 27 May 2016.

You can find more on the regulations or how to make a submission here.
