GAP Summit and initiatives in 2016

| December 17, 2015

GAP has now released the report from its recent 6th Annual Growth Summit on the future of jobs in NSW Parliament House. Catherine Fritz-Kalish, Co-founder and Managing Director of GAP, invites you to learn more about Summit outcomes, new GAP taskforces and the work on developing a Vision for Australia.

While the topic of the future of jobs is contentious, with predictions of job losses and offshoring of talent and skills, the GAP Summit focused on the opportunities that technological advances, improved business culture and socially responsible regulation would bring into the Australian job market.

Discussions were lively and informed, and they highlighted courageous decision making as a driver of change. Guests from business, academia and government came together to share their views and identify areas where GAP can make a difference.

Mike Cannon-Brookes shared personal stories of Atlassian’s growth and its focus on people, while Stefan Kapferer of the OECD joined us from Paris to give an insight into Australia’s position in relation to the global job market.

A number of targeted taskforces have formed as a result of issues identified at the Summit. The impact from these taskforces will be felt through various economic sectors, including Education, Health, Security and the Environment.

I encourage you to read the comprehensive report of Summit outcomes. The Sharing Economy, Early Childhood Education, and Innovation will be the focus for new GAP taskforces in 2016.

Over the last year, GAP has been working on developing a Vision for Australia, and all of our taskforces, consultative committees and online forums have contributed.

We look forward to another productive year and to working together on these initiatives.
