The World Economic Forum has released its interim Global Risks Report for this year. Now in its 12th edition, The Global Risks Report 2017 highlights the most significant long-term risks worldwide.

The analysis contained in the Report builds on the annual Global Risks Perception Survey, completed by almost 750 members of the World Economic Forum’s global community.

The Report examines the five greatest priorities facing the world in 2017, their interconnections and the actions the authors deem necessary to avoid their harshest fall-out.

The five identified risks according to the Report are centred around:

–  Economy: growth and reform

–  Society: rebuilding communities

–  Technology: managing disruption

–  Geopolitics: strengthening cooperation

–  Environment: accelerating action

In addition to these gravity centres, this year’s Global Risks Report presents discussions of risks posed by ongoing political and societal transformations, including challenges to democracy, closing space for civil society, and outmoded social protection systems. It also discusses risks related to emerging technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the associated governance challenges.
